Alison Wheatcroft is American by birth but she has lived a great deal of her life in Europe. She began her writing career in the copy department of a major New York advertising agency where she made her mark writing about food for magazines and television. She has also written a travel book, The Bahamas Island by Island, and edited a newspaper for a major carpet manufacturer. Over the years, her love of cooking has become a full time pursuit. In the `60s and `70s she was at the heart of the food revolution. She honed her skills at dinner parties in New York, London and south west France. Her knowledge of food and how to organize a dinner easily and elegantly are well known. It is her philosophy of relaxed entertaining that makes this a delightful cookbook.
