The Bold Man of the Sea by Jim Shekhdar

Through an eventful 9 months at sea, 54 year old Jim Shekhdar travelled more then 10,000 miles from South America to Queensland to become the first person to ever row single-handed across the Pacific Ocean. A spectacular story of tenacity and adventure.
Jim Shekhdar was born in 1946 in Leamington Spa. Trained as a civil engineer, he worked on the M4 motorway in England, a variety of projects in Australia, roads in New Zealand and New Guinea, airports in Zaire and flats in the United Arab Emirates. He has worked in IT and, most recently, in management consultancy. He rowed across the Atlantic with David Jackson in 1997. He was scheduled for a hip replacement operation, but postponed it for his epic Pacific journey. He is married, with two daughters.
