The Book Book by Sophie B Pietromarchi
Artist Sophie Benini Pietromarchi invites children on an unique and poetic journey into the world of the book, giving ideas and inspiration on how to create their own books from everyday materials. Exploring colours, textures, shapes and feelings, she demonstrates how to turn these intangible elements into pictorial narratives. This visual feast of a book - which evolved from the Sophie's bookmaking workshops with children - is a tribute to the rich imaginative world in all of us.
Wonderful and unusual arts and crafts book using only the simplest materialsPaper clip zebras, different shades of yellow - a book children can read themselves. Angels and Urchins This book delights, pleasing both mind and eye... No excuses - get passionate, enjoy yourself, use this unusual book as a stimulus to create your own world. Carousel It isn't often that the first glimpse of a review copy quickens the pulse and sets the heart racing but this one did. I devoured it and wrote my name to stake my claim lest some colleague would spy it and take it as their own. Overall there is a masterly mix of skills and magic. The mystery of creation and the delicate seed of imagination are there side by side with tried and tested ways of producing a structured book, dripping with invention, uneven edges and wet paint.
