Nightborn by Lou Anders

Karn Korlundsson is a gamer, not a riddler, but in order to save his closest friend, Thianna Frostborn, he'll have to go to Castlebriar (via wyvern), learn how to play a new board game called Charioteers (no problem), solve the Riddle of the Horn, and deal with enigmatic elves.

Desstra is in training to join the Underhand, the dark elves' elite agents. But when she comes paths with Karn, she isn't who she seems.

The horn of Osius, an ancient artifact with the potential to reshape the world, is the focus of everyone's attention. The lengths to which Karn will go in the name of friendship will be put to the test. Who knew that solving a riddle could be so dangerous?

The novel includes directions for playing the board game Charioteers. For more games, maps, character profiles, and more, go to ThronesandBones.com.
