Born Fighter by Reg Kray
Here, in his own words, is the true story of his life as one half of a criminal double act with his brother Ron, the chilling career of two street-wise kids who became standard-bearers of violence - from fire-bombings to shootings and cold-blooded murder.Reg Kray was born ten minutes before his twin brother Ron, on 24 October 1933. Both professional boxers by the age of nineteen, the Kray twins led a notorious gang from their teenage years. Serial deserters of the British Army and imprisoned for assaulting a police officer, the boxing careers of the Kray twins was soon over - so they turned to crime. They ran one of London's most feared and notorious gangs, known as 'The Firm', alongside their careers as nightclub owners, which soon established them as celebrities of London's Swinging Sixties scene.
Throughout the 1960s, the Kray twins were heavily involved in organised crime, including the notorious murders of Jack 'The Hat' McVitie and George Cornell. They were eventually imprisoned in 1968: Ronnie was sent to Broadmoor Hospital and Reggie to prison in Norfolk. Ronnie Kray died in Broadmoor on 17 March 1995. After serving thirty one years of his life sentence, Reg Kray died on 1 October 2000.
