The Boys Who Danced With The Moon by Mark Paul Oleksiw
WINER of 2018 RED RIBON AWARD (The Wishing Shelf Book Awards)
Can you ever escape the past? Kiran Wells, a mid-30's professional living on the West Coast, thought he was safe until an anonymous letter arrives from his hometown. Its only contents- an old newspaper clipping about a drowning twenty years earlier. Leaving career and friends behind, Kiran returns to the place of his youth to find the conjurer of his past.
Kiran is a quiet and shy teenager with a taste for alternative music growing up in a suburban northern town during the mid-80's. The arrival of two students, the confident and rebellious Marius and the naive, cloak-wearing Moony, awaken Kiran. On the eve of graduation, fate turns the volume off in Kiran's world and his memory fades to black.
Returning to his hometown, Kiran is forced to confront the demons that haunt him. His future depends on whatever hope he has left and the life or death decision he must ultimately make. Will he hear the music again?
The Boys Who Danced with the Moon is a coming of age tale of friendship, youth, and love.

Mark Paul Oleksiw has always enjoyed writing and will continue to do so in the future. When he was seven years old, he took his first composition lesson. After many moons, experiences, and colorful characters, his first novel, The Boys Who Danced with the Moon, a coming-of-age story about a 1980s music-loving teen, is entertaining and perhaps inspiring readers. His work is inspired by his interest with oddball personalities, the struggles of growing up, and the search for... well, you'll have to discover out for yourself! It's a love letter to idealists attempting to make it in a flawed world.
Time's Musicians, his most recent and most difficult work, is a story of outcasts as heroes and a comic book writer tormented and defined by his childhood companions. It's a psychological thriller that tells a coming-of-age story. Mark, who was born in the late 1960s in the suburbs of Montreal, has weathered the frigid winters and pursued a career in business. He attended McGill University in the meantime, where he was co-editor of his faculty's satirical and occasionally politically incorrect monthly journal.
Mark grew up listening to guitar-driven music with fantastic lyrics and, in his opinion, was grunge before grunge. Mark, his wife, three teenage sons, and cat live in the western area of town. He enjoys listening to music, daydreaming, and being naughty when he is not working on a novel.
