BrainGame is an easy-to-read, fast-paced, semi-science fiction novel set in the mid-twenty-first century that will suit both the general reader and those of a more technically-minded leaning. The story follows the lives and work of two brilliant neurotechnology scientists, Lukas Hoffman and Richard Stewart who, between them, develop highly innovative products so advanced that they take the world by storm. But, while one of their creations proves to have the most mind-bogglingly positive effect on a highly-sensitive, essential element of our culture, it destroys, in equal measure, the very foundations upon which our civilisation is based. Semi- because, at the time of writing, science has yet to match the technological achievements conquered by Lukas and Richard. But, notwithstanding this, the question their creation asks of society, as it is today, is perfectly relevant irrespective of whether real science ever achieves Lukas and Richard's level of development. In short, were we to be totally honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that we are, at the present time, living in denial of the fact that the equanimity we experience in the diverse social relationships we enjoy is not what we fool ourselves into thinking it is.
