Brave New Burma by Nic Dunlop
Brave New Burma is a unique and intimate portrait of Burma through pictures and words. From the frontlines of the ongoing civil war to its deceptively tranquil cities; from the home of democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi to the lives of ordinary people and their struggle to survive, Brave New Burma is both a historic record, with rare images spanning 20 years, and the most up-to-date expose of Burma s crisis.Nic Dunlop is a photographer and writer residing in Bangkok who is represented by Panos Images in London. He got a John Hopkins University award for Achievement in International Journalism in 1999 for his discovery and exposing of Pol Pot's main executioner, Comrade Duch, a narrative described in his book The Hidden Executioner. He co-directed Burma Soldier, an HBO film that won the Grand Jury Prize at the United Nations Association Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
