Bravest of the Brave by John Glanfield
The year 2006 marked the 150th anniversary of the institution of the Victoria Cross, the pre-eminent British award for gallantry. The author concentrates on the story behind the VC's origins and relates the often extraordinary record of official interference in the award of this decoration throughout its history.
JOHN GLANFIELD spent forty years in the exhibition industry and was associated with Earls Court and Olympia for fifteen of them, latterly as halls director. He is the author of The Devil's Chariots (Sutton, 2001) an acclaimed history of the early tanks, and Earls Court and Olympia: From Buffalo Bill to the 'Brits' (Sutton, 2003). He lives in Guildford.
