Breath by Breath by Larry Rosenberg
Larry Rosenberg, one of the most prominent Buddhist teachers in the West, shows readers how to cultivate tranquility and deep insight through the full awareness of breathing. He discusses how to use the breath to attain greater awareness of body, mind and feelings and how to bring awareness to daily life. He shows us how freedom from our dissatisfaction can be as near to us as our own breath. The book also includes a translation of the Buddha's original teachings on breath, the Anapanasati Sutra. It is the most up-to-date version of this profound, accessible and little known teaching.
'..a book that every beginning meditator -- as well as experienced ones -- should read.' Bhante Henepola Gunaratana, author of Mindfulness in Plain English '..a unique contribution to our understanding of the path of meditation... wonderfully accessible and relevant' -- Joseph Goldstein
Larry Rosenberg is founder and resident teacher of the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center in Massachusetts and a guiding teacher at the Insight Meditation Society. He is one of the most widely respected Buddhist teachers in the West. This is his first book. He travels internationally to teach and will attend a conference in Devon, England in Spring 99.
