Brendan and the Blarney Stone by Stephen Walsh
When Brendan the leprechaun plays the tin whistle, the sound is sweeter than the sweetest songbird. But if only he could speak as well as he plays! His words spill out in a terrible jumble he goes to the shop to buy peas and accidentally comes home with cheese!
Stephen Walsh has a long association with leprechauns. He is the inventor of the emblematic leprechaun costume seen at many public events. He participated in a record breaking gathering of leprechauns which made the Guinness Book of Records in 2011, and he has run several marathons dressed as a leprechaun. His work with Connemara Marble has connected him to Ireland’s landscape, heritage and mythologies - of which leprechauns are a natural part. In a life of many incarnations, Marita has been a child, scholar, student, teacher, civil servant, mother, and animal enthusiast. She has an abiding interest in Ireland’s history, culture and folklore, is an inveterate scribbler, and likes to read late into the night.
