Brendan Kennelly by John Mcdonagh
Brendan Kennelly is one of Ireland's most important and popular contemporary poets whose prolific output extends to over forty volumes of poetry and translations since the publication of his first collection in 1959. His seminal, critically acclaimed collections include Cromwell, The Book of Judas, Poetry My Arse, and The Man Made of Rain, and his New and Selected Poems: 1960-2004 will be available this fall (see page 19). Kennelly is attracting increasing attention from both critics and students from Ireland and abroad and this readable overview of his work provides a much-needed introduction to the broad corpus of his work.
Dr John McDonagh is from the Department of Geography and Dr Tony Varley is from the Department of Politics both at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Dr Sally Shortall is Director of the Gibson Institute for Land Food and Environment at Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland.
