A Breton Pilgrimage by Liz Garnett
This is the travelogue of Liz Garnett who, in 2018, went on a driving holiday following the 700km Tro Breiz pilgrimage route around Brittany in France. As a regular traveller to Brittany, it was a chance for her to visit familiar places and explore unfamiliar areas. She travelled with her 16 year old son. The Tro Breiz is a pilgrimage route which visits the sites of the seven founding saints of Brittany. Originally designed to be completed by walking one week a year for seven years. With only two weeks to complete the trip and a lack of fitness, the only option for Liz was to drive. Once in Brittany the aim was to avoid the autoroutes and take the slower roads between the destinations and see more of the countryside and rural villages between the main sites. The book explores the history and landscape of the area as well as the experience of English speaking travellers to France.
