British Goblins by Wirt Sikes

Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

William Wirt Sikes (1836–1883) was an American journalist and author best known for his works on Welsh folklore and customs. Sikes was named U.S. Marshal in June 1876. Cardiff, Wales, has a consulate. Sikes wrote a number of essays on Welsh folklore, mythology, and traditions during the next few years, which were published as British Goblins; Welsh Folk-Lore, Fairy Mythology, Legends, and Traditions (1880) and Rambles and Studies in Old South Wales (1881), respectively. He also wrote Assassination Studies (1881). In 1883, he died at Cardiff and was laid to rest in Brookwood Cemetery in Brookwood, Surrey.
