Gene Arceri's fascination with Susan Hayward began as a teenage usher at the Roosevelt Theatre on Flushing, Long Island. New York. And began to shape itself as an idea for a book when he began hosting a talk show over at PBS radio, in San Francisco. Everytime he interviewed someone who had known Hayward he asked: What was she like?. The resulting anecdotes formed the beginning of the extensive research that went into this book. A journey that took him from Brooklyn to Atlanta, with stops everywhere, and in-between wanting face to face interviews, anywhere he could find some insight into this compelling personality.
