The story of a friendship of a Protestant boy with an older Catholic rebel in the first summer of the Troubles in 1969. It interweaves their individual coming of age and the rebirth of the violent, sectarian stalemate in Ulster. Winner of the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature.
Glen Patterson was born in Belfast in 1961 and from 1989 to 1991 was Writer in the community for Lisburn and Craigavon. Burning Your Own, his first novel, was awarded the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and a Betty Trask Prize. He now lives in Manchester.
