Bury My Heart In Bermondsey by Barry Albin Dyer
Passion and compassion, tragedy and comedy, the natural and the supernatural! all this and more is part of the daily routine for Barry Albin Dyer and his proud, historic firm of funeral directors. This book is an eye-opening account of the astonishing variety of work performed by Barry and his staff, such as the repatriation of bodies from all corners of the globe, including casualties of the Iraq War, the traditional cockney funeral and the horrors of the 'night shift'. Their human, down-to-earth approach demonstrates the important and noble role played by funeral directors in the lives of people of all backgrounds throughout the world.
"* 'FA. Albin and Sons provide solemnity and dignity without mawkishness or sentimentality... meticulous professionalism... remaining courteous even when dragged out in the middle of the night to pick up a body!' - Victor Lewis-Smith, Evening Standard"
