Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski

Clear instructions, extensive use of diagrams, and a full color photo supplement detail all the practical skills and knowledge essential for surviving and enjoying the wilderness. Includes basic instructions for lighting and maintaining a fire, chopping wood and felling trees, creating a warm shelter, using knives and axes safely, finding plants and animals important for survival, cooking in the outdoors, and making tools, ropes, baskets, and more from plant materials. This title now has the ISBN 9781772130072, replacing the ISBN 9781551051222.

Mors Kochanski is well-known in North America for his work in outdoor education, survival, and wilderness survival. His passion for wilderness recreation, broad knowledge of the topic, and determination to learn everything there is to know about the wilderness have made him one of the foremost wilderness experts. Mors Kochanski has worked as an outdoor educator and survival instructor for more than 40 years, including 23 years as a sessional professor at the University of Alberta and a few months at the Canadian Department of National Defense Survival School near Jarvis Lake, Alberta. Mors taught courses for the Alberta Department of Culture, Youth and Recreation for many years, and then for the School District 59 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, for 17 years, to the benefit of thousands of elementary school students. At this time, this tireless researcher conducted extensive study, worked as a freelance instructor, and penned numerous magazine articles for Alberta Wilderness Arts and Recreation Magazine, as well as popular aid-memoir booklets and the instant classic Northern Bushcraft (now known as Bushcraft).

To accompany his new book, published by Karamat Wilderness Ways, Mors has a long list of outdoor education triumphs. Nowadays, if a course or instructor claims to teach modern survival techniques or Bushcraft, the chances are that they are based on a teaching, a skill, or an idea developed by Mors - whether they realize it or not.
