Calculus Lite by Frank Morgan
Breaking the mold of heavyweight calculus books, this text presents a straightforward introduction to calculus. The author uses an intuitive approach to explain real-world problems and then develops a rigorous mathematical treatment for their solution. He introduces standard preliminary topics, such as trigonometry and limits, by using them in context. The book is ideal as an excellent tutorial for self-study and exam preparation as well as a textbook for beginning courses at major universities and colleges. A solutions manual is available upon qualifying course adoption.
! 'deliteful' ! Here, at last, is a lean and lively calculus--The Mathematics Teacher A straightforward, concise text introducing standard preliminary calculus through examples and practice rather than through lengthy explanation. --Book News Inc. ! as simple as calculus can be made. --The Mathematical Intelligencer Frank Morgan has demonstrated that a lean book can be written in a way that highlights key ideas. His clear delineation of differentiation, antidifferentiation, the integral, and the place of the fundamental theorem is exemplary in this regard. --The American Mathematical Monthly
