Carolina De Robertis was born in Uruguay and raised in England, Switzerland, and California. Her debut novel, The Invisible Mountain, was an international best seller that was translated into fifteen languages; it was named an O, The Oprah Magazine 2009 Fantastic Read, a San Francisco Chronicle Best Novel of the Year, and the Rhegium Julii Award winner in Italy. She was awarded a scholarship by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2012. Granta, Zoetrope: All-Story, and the Virginia Quarterly Review, among other periodicals, have published her fiction and literary translations. She is a resident of Oakland, California.
