Anne Fine has won the Smarties Book Prize, the Guardian Children's Fiction Award and, twice, the Carnegie Medal. She has twice been voted Children's Author of the Year and her book "Madame Doubtfire" was turned into a Hollywood film, "Mrs Doubtfire". Anne lives in County Durham. He lives in Belfast.
