Care-Therapy for Children by Ken Redgrave
Both in the UK and abroad there are many vulnerable children who require one-to-one help from adults. The skills and knowledge needed by these child care workers have been identified in several offical reports, in particular the Social Services Inspectorate's response to the death of Rikki Neave (1997) and two reports in 1998 by the Health Committee and the DHSS. This book is a guide to theory and practice needed by child care workers, and should serve as an aid to their "direct work" with children. It focuses particularly on the use of "third objects" - such as paint, computers and music - in therapy and counselling of vulnerable children.
Kenneth Redgrave is a consultant in childcare.
