Care to Remember by Gerard M Fealy

Care to Remember is a vibrant and scholarly book that explores aspects of the history of Irish healthcare from the perspective of nurses and midwives. The book documents and analyses for the first time many untold aspects of the work of nurses and midwives in Ireland. The book also explores wider issues of concern to nurses and midwives such as the public image of the nurse in cinema and television and the role of caring in the new millennium.
Dr Gerard M. Fealy is Director of Undergraduate Studies and Assistant Head of School at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Dublin. He is a registered general nurse, a registered psychiatric nurse and a registered nurse tutor. He was formerly principal nurse tutor at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Dr Fealy is a prominent nursing academic and the leading nurse historian in Ireland. He has also completed a book on the history of apprenticeship nurse training in Ireland, Bright Faces and Neat Dresses, due to be published by Routledge in 2005.
