The political satirical print enjoyed its heyday during the eighteenth and early nineteenth century and was the predecessor of modern newspaper cartoons. Tim Clayton is an author and historian. His book The English Print 1688-1802 is widely regarded as the definitive work on this subject and he has published numerous other studies of eighteenth-century prints. He is also the author of the forthcoming Hogarth.
