Thelwell's latest collection of drawings is a celebration of the way cats have not only invaded our lives but also our language. His drawings evoke this language, from "the cat's whiskers", "scaredy cat" and "cat nap" to punning feline interpretations of such words as "catarrh" and "platypus".Norman Thelwell worked as a political cartoonist for the News Chronicle, then the Sunday Express and Tatler, and produced over 1,600 cartoons to Punch magazine. He was a founding member of the British Cartoonists' Association and was well-known for his cartoons on horseback riding, fishing, sailing, motoring, and English rural life.
