The Chandler's Daughter by Victor Pemberton
1937: The year of the coronation of King George VI and a pivotal year for Grace Higgs. Her father s death not only brings loneliness and heartache, but also the shocking revelation that his business was in trouble. A hard-working, practical girl, Grace is more concerned with paying off her father s debts than finding someone to share her life with. A disastrous love affair has put her off men for good. Desperate to save the business, Grace looks through her father s papers and makes a surprising find a note addressed to her and a mysterious key. It s a discovery that transforms her gloomy existence, and she blooms, clear for all to see. Her transformation doesn t escape the notice of Eric Tyler, the man who broke Grace s heart. He s back in her life, but is it for good? And is it Grace or her father s legacy that he s attracted to?
