Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation's co-executive director is Jay Scott. When his daughter Alexandra chose to start a lemonade business to raise money for doctors to research new therapies and, eventually, a cure for all children cancers, including her own, Jay and his wife Liz backed her up. They carried on Alex's legacy of hope when he died of cancer. Alexandra Alex Scott was born on January 18, 1996, in Connecticut, the second of four children. Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, just before her first birthday.
Alex's parents were told on her first birthday that even if she fought cancer, it was unlikely that she would ever walk again. Alex moved her leg slightly two weeks later in response to her parents' plea to kick. This was the first sign of who she would grow up to be: a determined, bold, confident, and inspiring young woman with huge aspirations and big accomplishments.
