Changing Women, Changing Worlds by Fran Porter
Women in Northern Ireland are notably active in the community and political endeavours that are furthering the peace process. Many of them are also very involved in church life. This book explores, by means of in-depth interviews and astutue commentary, the contribution evangelical women are making to civic life in Northern Ireland. Increased involvement in all aspects of society is part of the overall shift in the position of women and the ongoing challenge to traditional attitudes that kept them in the background. Hearing what women themselves have to say is vital, and Dr Fran Porter has conducted in-depth interviews with 70 women.
DR FRAN PORTER, born in England, has lived in Northern Ireland for the past twenty years. She has a BA in theology, and an MSc and PhD in Women's Studies. She lives in Belfast, and works as a freelance researcher and teacher.
