Charles Peirce on Ethics, Esthetics and the Normative Sciences by James Liszka
This book presents a comprehensive and systematic picture of Charles Peirces ethics and aesthetics, arguing that Peirce established a normative framework for the study of right conduct and good ends. It also connects Peirces normative thought to contemporary debates in ethical theory."James Liszka’s book is, to date and without question, one of the best resources on its titular focusIt thoroughly considers the historical roots of Peirce’s thought on values and normativity, and it addresses some hard questions about it, including about the nature of the growth of concrete reasonableness, which Peirce considers to be our ethical summum bonum. It is clear and focused, and it contributes much to the discussion in this area of Peirce scholarship, interest in which has increased over the past decade." – Aaron Wilson, South Texas College, USA
