Chelsea Gold by John Moreland
Daring or down-to-earth, Chelsea Flower Show gardens are designed to impress, amuse, educate and, above all, inspire. Some feature herbaceous borders bursting with colour and life; others are classically serene, with minimal planting - all have the sense of drama that defines a Chelsea Gold garden. These gardens are created over a period of two to three weeks, are on show for five days and then destroyed - this is the first lavishly illustrated record of more than 30 of these gardens chosen for their originality, practicability, overall design and quality of planting. John Moreland also interviews each of the designers revealing their thoughts on the design and how it might be adapted to a domestic situation.
John Moreland is a landscape architect and Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers. He is a three-times winner of the Gold Medal for the Daily Telegraph Show Gardens in 1990, 1993 and 1995, and the Gold Medal and Best in Show for the Evening Standard Show Garden in 1998 designed and created with Arabella Lennox-Boyd. He has been a principal judge at the Hampton Court Flower Show and spent five years on the RHS Chelsea panel for the selection of show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. John Moreland lives in Penzance, Cornwall.
