Chief Inspector, the Beginning by Ken Berquist

The deBlaca family, immigrants from Ireland fleeing from British oppression in 1848, settled in Washington where they established the successful Black Arms Company. Liam, their only child, graduated from George Washington University top of his class with a double major, law and engineering. He was recruited to head the US Marshals service early in the Lincoln administration. Civil war was near certain, slavery the topic on every tongue, clashing in the streets common, unrest and tension percolating, jails overflowing with protesters and ruffians. The United States near imploding from within. Then the unthinkable happens sending Liam into deep despair, seething with unrestrained rage and questioning his faith and respect for the rule of law.

Ken Berquist was born in Worcester, Massachusetts but has lived in many parts of the United States. My favorite areas include Texas and Florida, where I reside with my wide, Gail, today. I have been fortunate to have travelled the world many times and benefited from the diversity of culture. By way of academic learning, I am an engineer (with patents for data encryption) as well as a business executive that has specialized in marketing for technology. My reading is quite diverse but with focus on the history of American West, most especially the American Indian. I have tried to blend these passions into my first book, The Collaborative as well as the second book, Chief Inspector, the Beginning. Both books have sequels in process.
