Chinese-English Dictionary by Defrancis
This dictionary, also available in a pocket edition, ushers in a new era in Chinese lexicography. He traveled almost 4,000 kilometers through Northwest China and Mongolia, over the Gobi Desert, and down the Yellow River in three years of study and travel, immersing himself in grassroots contact with the language and people. DeFrancis received his M.A. after returning to the United States.
