This is a collection of 15 short stories which are set in Florida, Texas and some unnamed town in the New South. The characters inhabit low rise condominiums, cheap hotels and used car lots, they eat fried chicken, burgers and spend a lot of time watching TV, visiting malls and running about.
Barthelme, Frederick: - Frederick Barthelme is the author of eleven books, including BOB THE GAMBLER and THE PAINTED DESERT. He directs the writing program at the University of Southern Mississippi and edits the literary journal Mississippi Review. Mr. Barthelme lives in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
