In addition to the chronology, there is a series of some 50 lists, covering everything from monarchs (English and Scottish) and prime ministers to Nobel prizewinners and social and economic statistics.

Clement Clarke Moore was an American writer and educator who lived from 1779 to 1863. His poem An Account of a Visit from St. was written in response to a visit from St. The Night Before holiday was initially published anonymously in 1823 and has since become a Christmas classic. The narrative was created for his six children as a Christmas present. Moore died in his summer home in Newport, Rhode Island, where he had lived for most of his life.
