CINDERELLA by Roberts David Ill

Magic, magic, work on all, Get Cinderella to the ball! Meet a fashion-conscious fairy godmother with a difference in this stylish reworking of the classic fairy tale by a new brother-and-sister creative duo. Cinderella moves into the era of flapper girls and the Charleston in a new edition of this famous tale of rags to riches. Too blind to see what he is doing. Cinderella's father marries unwisely and brings home a heartless wife, her argumentative daughters and nasty little dog, who make life miserable for Cinderella until she triumphs in the marriage stakes. Fashion illustrator David Roberts brings all these characters to life in his meticulously researched drawings - Cinderella: the two stepsisters. Ermintrude and Eloise: the stepmother; Butch the dog: father; and of course, the chinless Prince. Lynn Roberts has crafted a humorous story straight from the art deco period that perfectly complements her brother's drawings.
Fashion illustrator David Roberts was born in Liverpool and studied fashion before moving to Hong Kong to work as a fashion illustrator. He has illustrated six books, and was runner-up for the 1999 Mother Goose Award for children's illustration. David now lives and works in south London where, when not drawing, he likes to make hats. Lynn Roberts studied theology and publishing. She has written poems and rhyming stories for children, illustrated by her brother David. Lynn lives in Liverpool with her brother's two cats. Oberon and Eugene, who refused to move to London. Cinderella is Lynn Roberts' first book.
