
Claude Monet by Daniel Wildenstein
This four-volume work contains all of Monet's 2000 pictures, as well as almost 100 rediscovered canvases. The first volume acts as an introduction to Monet's life, and the others present his complete work in chronological, historical and scientific terms.Daniel Wildenstein (1917-2001) was a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Paris) and an art historian. He was the Director of the Wildenstein Galleries in New York, London, and Tokyo from 1939 forward. He was an editor for a number of international magazines, including From 1956 until 1962, the magazine Arts was published, followed by the Gazette des Beaux-Arts in 1963. In 1970, he co-founded the Foundation Wildenstein (later renamed the Wildenstein Institute), and he was a driving force behind numerous prestigious international exhibitions.
Daniel Wildenstein also published catalogues raisonnés for a number of painters from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. He was an expert on Impressionism and issued catalogues of Gauguin, Manet, and Monet's works.
