Clementine's Letter by Sara Pennypacker
Clementine is convinced that her new teacher is secretly hypnotising all the students in her class. How else do you explain a bunch of kids sitting frozen like statues? With her old teacher leaving, Clementine fears that no one will understand her anymore and that she'll always be in trouble. Can she stop him from leaving? Can she get the new teacher to accept her? Or is life as a statue inevitable?
"Give this to readers of Judy Blume and cross your fingers for more" Starred review, Kirkus. -- Kirkus Review 20060807 Fans of Judy Moody will welcome this portrait of another funny, independent third-grader. -- Publishers Weekly (Starred Review) 20060807 Clementine is a true original ... Libraries will need multiple copies of this one, because early chapter-book readers will jump at the chance to spend another eventful week with Clementine. -- School Library Journal 20060807 Frazee's polished, warm-spirited line drawings ... capture the endearing idiosyncrasies of its heroine, who will equally charm returning readers and those meeting her for the first time. -- Booklist 20060807
Sara Pennypacker was a painter before becoming a writer, and has two absolutely fabulous children who are now grown. She has written several books. Sara lives near the water on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She loves to float around in the ocean when it's warm, and collect interesting things from the beach when it's not. When she was in school, she never had any problem at all paying attention. OK, fine. That last part is about somebody else!
