Clever Duck by Dick King-Smith
Pompous Old Boar General and his harem of sows are no match for Damaris. This bright young duck is sick to death of them lording it over the farmyard and she, and her sheepdog friend Rory, plan to teach them a lesson. Given a push in the right direction by Damaris and Rory, the pigs make a break for freedom and are soon disappearing down the road leaving a trail of destruction behind them until they are finally pignapped! Damaris takes pity on them and manages to reunite the farmer and his pigs.
Formerly a farmer and a teacher, Dick King-Smith is best known for his third career as a writer. His phenomenally successful children's stories are marked by endearing humour and characters of unique depth and life. THE SHEEP-PIG won the Guardian Award in 1984 and was transformed into the blockbusting film BABE. Dick King-Smith lives in Keynsham, Avon.
