This has been, and still is an ongoing and deliberate attempt to promote the advancement of whites over people of color and to prevent the advancement of people of color. This racial injustice is still alive and well on the local, state, and national level today, and in particularly in our fire and police departments. The author experienced life changing events during his 31+ years' experience as he struggled to climb the ladder of success in an effort to reach the top.
