Close-up by Len Deighton
Film star Marshall Stone is brilliant, wealthy, charismatic. But he's getting older, losing his looks, and his acting genius is being wasted on bad scripts. He recoils in horror from the stigma of decline in a glittering but ruthless industry. The author's other books include "The Ipcress File".
