Claudia Roden is an anthropologist and cookbook author living in the United Kingdom. She was born in Cairo and went to school in both France and England. She has written a number of best-selling books, including the international award-winning The Book of Jewish Cuisine, and her bestselling cookbook, A Book of Middle Eastern Food, revolutionized Western ideas toward Middle Eastern cuisines in 1968. Roden has also presented BBC cookery shows and is the co-chair of the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cuisine, in addition to her literary work.
