Comfort Food by Maxine Clark

Everyone has their own favourite comfort food. It may be something as simple as thickly sliced hot toast, a tub of creamy ice cream or a fabulous rich chocolate dessert, but there's no denying the pleasure good food can bring. Truly comforting food is as enjoyable to prepare and cook as it is to eat. This book features fabulous ingredients such as aromatic frazzled pancetta with scrambled eggs sitting atop a croissant, or luscious hot fudge sauce poured over a warm brioche filled with ice cream. So, curl up on the sofa with a big bowl of rich, warming soup and tortilla chips, or delay the day's chores with some really dark, sticky gingerbread, and resist going to bed until the last of a freshly baked pudding is eaten. Whatever your mood, these recipes aim to provide scope and ideas for truly indulgent eating.
An acclaimed cook, Maxine Clark has been comfortably involved with food since attending Leith's School of Food and Wine in London, where she taught for several years. She then went on to work in publishing creating recipes and styling food for photography for books and leading women's magazines, such as Good Housekeeping. Now a freelance cookery writer, Maxine has a particular interest in Italian and French cooking and teaches gourmet holiday courses in Tuscany and Sicily. She lives in Perthshire, Scotland, but visits her family home in Southwest France as much as possible.
