Story, William W.: - The son of Joseph Story, William Wetmore Story [1819-1895] wrote two textbooks that were standard works during the nineteenth century, A Treatise on the Law of Contracts (1844) and Treatise on the Law of Sales of Personal Property (1847). He practiced law for five years. After his father's death, he published Poems (1847) and was commissioned by Harvard to create a statue of his father. He went to Italy to study sculpture and finished editing this work there in 1850. The statue of his father stands at the entrance to Harvard Law School's Langdell Hall; other of his works are in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
