Compleat Imbiber by Cyril Ray
This is an anthology of fact and fiction on the subjects of food and drink, combining serious prose, jokes and poems and satire. This edition contains a tall story by Wynford Vaughan Thomas, a new translation of a Chekhov story about food and wine and a diary extract from Evelyn Waugh.
KEITH WATERHOUSE was one of the most popular and prolific of the gritty, 'Northern' writers, for stage, screen and television, with more than 60 books, plays and television scripts to his credit. His credits, many with life-long friend and collaborator Willis Hall, include satires such as That Was The Week That Was, BBC-3 and The Frost Report during the 1960s, the book for the 1975 musical The Card, Budgie, Worzel Gummidge, and Andy Capp (an adaptation of the comic strip). Perhaps his best-known work is the highly-successful novel, play and film, Billy Liar.
