The Complete History of the SAS by Nigel Mccreary

Specializing in covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism and hostage rescue, the SAS is one of the world's most famous, feared and respected elite fighting forces. This book tells the full, fascinating story of the regiment, from formation in the sand dunes of Africa during World War II to present action in the Middle East, and incorporates jungle, desert and urban warfare, counter-terrorism and an insider's view at the selection and training methods employed by this usually secretive unit.

Nigel McCrery was born in 1953 and spent his youth traveling much because his father was a member of the Royal Air Force. They made their home in Nottingham, and he worked for the Nottinghamshire Constabulary from 1978 to 1987. He went on to Trinity College, Cambridge, to study history before enrolling in the BBC graduate entry course. Silent Witness, New Tricks, and All The King's Men are just a few of the hugely popular BBC shows and films he has authored or co-written. He is the author of more than a dozen novels. Nigel resides in Nottingham and is the author of Into Touch - Rugby Players Killed in the Great War, Last Wicket - Cricketers Killed in the Great War, The Approaching Storm - Test and First Class Cricketers Killed in World War Two, and The Extinguished Flame - Olympians Killed in the Great War.
