In her lifetime, she published 20 novels, including The Fantastic Journey to the Mushroom Planet (1954) and its sequels, The Green and Burning Tree (1969), a collection of critical essays, and The Court of the Stone Children (1973), which received the U.S. Children's Books won the National Book Award.
