The late Olive Patricia Dickason was professor emeritus at the University of Alberta and adjunct professor of history at the University of Ottawa. She was the author of several books, named a Member of the Order of Canada in 1996, and received the Aboriginal Life Achievement Award, Canadian Native Arts Foundation, in 1997. William Newbigging (Ph.D. University of Toronto) is a Canadian historian specializing in the history of contact between First Peoples and Europeans. He teaches at Laurentian University and has worked as a consultant to more than a dozen Canadian First Nations on land and natural resources claims since 1990.
