Deborah Shouse is a dementia advocate, writer, speaker, editor, and creativity facilitator. She has an MBA, but she only utilizes it in an emergency. Deborah authored a love story column for the Kansas City Star for many years. Deborah's book, Love in the Realm of Dementia: Finding Hope in the Caregiver's Journey, was self-published at first. Deborah and her partner Ron generated more than $80,000 for dementia services by using the book as a catalyst. This book has been updated and released by Central Recovery Press.
Deborah and Ron have organized workshops and performed dramatized versions of Deborah's stories for Alzheimer's Associations and care partners in the United States, New Zealand, Nova Scotia, Puerto Rico, England, Ireland, Chile, Costa Rica, Italy, Turkey, and the United States. The Virgin Islands are a group of islands off the coast of Spiritual organizations, hospices, healthcare professionals, activity directors, long-term care facilities, social workers, and book clubs have all collaborated with them. They've made connections with care partners all over the world by spreading their message of finding creativity and hope in the dementia journey.
