Dwyer, Karen: - Karen Kangas Dwyer, Ph.D. (University of Nebraska) has served as the Public Speaking Course Director at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) for over 20 years and has taught several classes for students and professionals on how to become an effective public speaker. Dr. Dwyer has received the UNO and the University of Nebraska statewide system teaching awards. She started the UNO Speech Center and has written several books, papers and published articles related to public speaking and helping students overcome speech anxiety. In addition, she has served as the Chair of the National Communication Association Division of Communication Apprehension and Competence.
