Consciousness Speaks by Balsekar

A worthy successor to I AM THAT Ramesh's most accessible and easy to understand book. An excellent place to start or end your search. It is highly recommended both for the newcomer to Advaita and the more knowledgeable student of the subject.

Ramesh S.Balsekar (1917-2009) is regarded as an articulate Master of Advaita (Non-duality) by searchers all over the world. He translated several of his Guru Nisargadatta Maharaj's daily speeches given in Marathi into English when he retired as President of the Bank of India. Once Maharaj had commanded him to speak twice, he began disseminating the knowledge in 1982. He went on to write over 30 books on Advaita after that. Ramesh is widely considered as an undeniably original and uncompromising teacher in his presentation of the principles, in keeping with Maharaj's forewarning that Ramesh would not be parroting his Guru's words as a teacher.

All there is is Consciousness; all actions are events - the operation of the Primal Energy and not the acting of anyone, according to Ramesh's teaching. With his experience as a bank president and a family man, he put his views in the framework of everyday life.
